Backstory, Character Details, and Personality:
Backstory:
Koieta was an orphan who never knew her parents. She doesn’t know what happened but blames herself. She spent the first ten years of her life in an orphanage, feeling alone and unwanted. She was the only changeling at the orphanage and the only one she’d ever met, which made her feel different.
She didn’t know she could shift forms until she was 7, but once she learned about this ability, she made herself look like the other kids… the ones who were adopted, the ones who were actually wanted… unlike her. But when that didn’t work, she just let her actual form show… she thought it gave people a reason to avoid her. Gave her a reason to explain why no one wanted to be her friend.
As she grew up, she began to experiment with magic. She started her practice with magic via a donated “Magic and Its Uses” book. She tried to learn… but it failed almost like everything she did, Only able to make tiny sparks (with no consistency).
She often pondered the idea of running away from the orphanage and becoming an adventurer like in those stories… but was too scared to do so. She could barely make it here; how did she expect to make it in the real world as an adventurer? She spent many nights with her head in a book, wanting to live out the stories she read… but becoming increasingly socially anxious with each passing day.
She lived like this until she was 10… and then, a couple came into the orphanage that looked different! Her eyes lit up seeing the 7’4” orc woman, someone different from her. Maybe she could… no, no, they wouldn’t like her… she… her brain spiraled into her thoughts, eventually just going back to her bed and hiding behind it as she journaled of all her wishes, the thoughts of being adopted, just being wanted for once.
She probably would’ve stayed hidden and not noticed like normal… but got bored and decided to practice the minor illusion spell (to no avail). She tried her hardest to make a scene from a book she had read but failed as she tried. Although as she attempted to make an illustration of this scene, she caught the eye of Jenny, who walked over to her. Koieta froze, looking at the elven woman repeatedly stuttering, trying to say hello.
Jenny smiled and sat beside Koieta before saying, “It’s okay; people make me nervous too.” Koieta could only nod at that moment, turning her gaze away. As she did, Jenny said, “I’m Jenny, and who might you be?” Koieta paused, still looking away, and quietly said, “Ko…Koieta.”
This conversation continued for quite a while, Koieta slowly becoming more comfortable around Jenny. For the first time, without magic, Koieta felt… wanted… as someone cared about what she had to say. As they continued talking, Bethany eventually joined the two. The conversation slowed down as Koieta again became nervous at the new face. But eventually, she again slowly became comfortable with the new person. She still felt anxious, felt like she was going to fuck this up. She didn’t want to fuck this up. This was the first time she’d… talked to someone like this in years, and she had forgotten how nice it truly was.
This day would be and still is, Koieta’s favorite memory. This was the day she became Koieta Foote. The day she was adopted. The day she was wanted. The first time she had been happy in forever.
She had no trouble after living with Jenny and Bethany, calling them mom… in fact, she loved it. She often spent more time with Jenny and Bethany than with people her age. She loves them so so so much, and they’re her everything. They’ve accepted her for who she is and love her for it… which she didn’t think was possible.
Koieta is still nervous about opening up to others, about not being wanted, being denied by others, which terrifies her… but she’s not nervous about opening up to her Moms. She shares everything with them, whether in a letter or person.
Bethany taught Koieta how to rough house, make jewelry, and about the god Thoroe and Naridia. Jenny taught her how to hunt, but most importantly… how to play the violin. As Koieta continued learning, she found she could cast spells through it… FINALLY, after so many years of reading the same book, she finally could cast spells YES! While Bethany never learned an instrument, she did learn to sing… and to Jenny and Koieta, her voice is magical. So as Koieta grew up, she learned to sing from Bethany and to play the violin from Jenny, which only allowed her magic to grow.
One day, as she played the Violin and sang with her mothers… a new face joined their small family. Koieta wasn’t sure how he got summoned, but she was so happy he did. Razeus Foote is Koieta’s familiar, but Koieta treats him as a pet more than a magic familiar. She didn’t even try to find out how he got summoned; she just loved the little fella… just look at how cute he is!!!
Bethany and Jenny were… hesitant to let a randomly summoned magical creature stay with them, but after Koieta begged, pleaded, and bargained for hours, they said yes. Little did they know they would come to love Razeus as much as Koieta did when she saw him.
While it took Bethany and Jenny longer to love the rapscallion known as Razeus, Koieta loved him at first sight… because, to her, he was different, just like her. Like her, he looked like a fox but was different colors than you would typically see. She doesn’t know that Razeus is also bonded to Koieta, a representation of the fey-touched magic that Koieta has.
Life was usual for the four of the Footes. Bethany worked in metal work, and at the church, Jenny hunted and worked with textiles, and Koieta and Razeus would help how they could and, when they weren’t helping, practice magic, explore, and learn more about the history and the world around them. Koieta learned to shift her forms so as not to get caught when she was doing… more sly things like charming people into doing and giving her what she wanted.
There were a few times when Koieta tried to charm, literally, her way into getting what she wanted, but as the spell ended, she constantly got lectured. This only happened a few times before Koieta felt guilty for doing it… she never feels guilty charming anyone else but her moms, and in turn, will never use magic on her mothers.
When Koieta reached 19, Bethany and Jenny encouraged her to explore, see the world, and find friends to spend time with. But Koieta… was very on the fence about that. On the one hand, she wanted to see all the different cities she had learned about through history, to get new books and learn new things… but on the other, she was scared, anxious, and nervous about interacting with others… being rejected, and unwanted all over again.
But, with her mother’s support, encouragement, and helping hand, she set out to explore the world. She never goes out in public in her proper form anymore. Her alternative forms make her feel more confident… if people don’t like them, it’s not that they don’t like her but just that form. This helped her with her first year of exploring the world, so she developed a few more to get what she wanted or interact with various people in different scenarios. As she developed these forms, though, she drew inspiration from her mothers. Taking traits from each of them for her forms.
She’s still exploring, unsure of what she wants in this world, trying to find it. She has a deep longing to fit in with some group, some people to call her own… but she’s scared to open up, and therefore hides behind these over-the-top personalities that she’s built from stories, tales, and legends from history. Her mothers are the one thing that is true and constant in her life. For this reason, she writes to them constantly, honestly hating to be apart from them for too long.

Morning Routine:
Every morning Koieta would wake up and put on her face, literally in the form of Ash, if she didn’t sleep in that form. She spends the morning writing around the fire or watching the sunrise with a cup of coffee…. If she is unable to do this, she gets very grumpy! From there, she will organize her things, ensuring everything is orderly, and only then is she ready for the day!
Night Time Routine:
Every Night Koieta will again spend some time writing, be it a letter to her mothers, a journal of the day’s events, or important things such as names with critical things about that person. Each name is written on its page, with a formal and fancy script. From there, Koieta will lock her things up, especially the journal/spellbook, and after everything is organized, she will finally fall asleep. She always wants to be the last to sleep and the first to rise!
Patterns/Routines Throughout The Day:
Koieta will take out her notebook randomly during the day and start writing. Be it notes on something at the moment, something interesting she found, sketching, a song idea, or whatever. She tries to do this without breaking character, but sometimes it slips… things are so cool, and she wants to talk about it in her letters!
Furthermore, she often just hums when the moment is quiet. She likes to just play with her magic, which requires her to do something verbally, so she hums to do this!
Clothing:
When not dressing for a specific form, Koieta will wear clothing that her mothers made for her. The clothes are specifically meant to be unisex but are also just made of pastel colors that she loves. Lavenders and yellows in this soft fabric just hug the skin. She has about two outfits that her moms made for her that she cycles through when not dressing for a specific form or job:
Scarf:
Cloak (Blanket used as cloak):
Cherished Possessions:
-
The earrings were given to her by Bethany when in Ash’s form, she wears them around the horns.
-
The very soft and warm flower-patterned scarf Jenny gave her (Seen Above).
-
The clothing (see above)
-
Letters or anything from her moms
-
Her Scythe (She commissioned it from a druid and absolutely adores the look of it!)
- Her journal (holds music, magic notes, notes about her personas, and random diary entries)
Lightweight:
Koieta, and her subsequent forms, is a massive lightweight. She has never had anything to drink, and if she gets drunk, she will shift haphazardly between her forms.
Magic:
Koieta’s Magic is Fey touched, even though she doesn’t know this. Her magic often manifests in her words; even spells that don’t require a verbal component require Koieta to speak a verbal command. When casting a spell, her voice sounds like this mist that just seeps over a person and entices them to listen more. This fully soft-sounding voice just makes the listener want to hear more. If there are magic phrases involved, it’s generally in Sylvan.
Trips Home:
Koieta will, multiple times a year, specifically around holidays, always return home to the small town of Eranthane, near the city of Moonhelm and The Gray Rill. She does this to catch up with her parents, be able to talk to them in a form other than letters and bring back any gifts she might have gotten.
Forms:
Ash the Witch of Chaos (Go to Form, Most Fleshed Out):
One unique thing about Koieta’s favorite form, Ash, is that it has features from both her moms. The ears and her eyes are the elven traits of Jenny, while the nose and teeth represent the more orcish traits of Bethany. Ash is, well, trying too hard to be excellent. She’s always “Drinking” from her flasks, its different types of fruit juice, always flirting with others, and is your stereotypical bard even though she’d never go through with half of the things she says. She acts courageously like she could take on anyone! She’s pompous, arrogant, and a quick-witted bitch. However, Koieta scares easily… so at points, this persona is easy to see through when she becomes scared (wisdom save when asked for, and on a fail, apply disadvantage on all cha checks)
Chloe Form:
This is a fawn-like form, and the personality adheres to this. Chloe is utterly “gullible” and doesn’t know much but is in awe. Chloe is klutzy and often hits things with her deer-like antlers. She uses this form to trick people into a false sense of security, so she can get whatever she wants from them without them thinking she’s doing anything.
Venus Form:
This form is the opposite of Chloe, which is intrinsically and openly deceptive. Venus is the rogue form of Koieta. She is cunning, keen, and always ready for a backstab… well, at least that’s what she says. Even though her forms all act differently, it’s still her deep down deep… and all this is her playing pretend.
Koieta:
This is her proper form, and Koieta is… well, a nerd. She likes learning new spells, specifically enchantment spells. She’s OCD, Loves her Mom’s, and finds joy in calligraphy. She is very soft-spoken, shy, and easily scared. She hides behind her other forms, hiding who she is as a way to prevent others from rejecting her true self… because she’s terrified of being rejected. She was adopted, but before that, she wasn’t wanted… she doesn’t ever want not to feel wanted again, and one way of doing that is by hiding behind her forms as a mask. If people don’t want one of her forms, that’s not them not wanting her… or so she tells herself.

(Unable to find Artist)
Bethany is a sweet-sounding name, but you don’t want to mess with this orcish brute; she will fuck you up! Bethany stands about 7 ft 4 inches and towers over Koieta. Although don’t let this beefy demeanor change the fact that she gives the best hugs around. Bethany is like a momma bear. She’s caring and kind but will not hesitate to throw down if you screw with Koieta or Jenny. She may be a burly brute but likes a more sensitive touch. She’s a priestess for the temple of Thoroe and Naridia, and she’s always ready to heal up anyone who got hurt at a moment’s notice. She is the type of mom who will wipe the side of your mouth, which embarrasses Koieta so much! She also constantly refers to her as Koieta no matter what form she’s in, which Koieta corrects every time to no avail. In her free time, Bethany also makes jewelry and other metalwork items, some of which Kioeta carries with her.

Jenny, on the other hand, is a more soft-spoken woman. She’s a wood elf about 6 ft on the dot. She’s the sappy type and always does small things like leaves notes or cuts their food into hearts, and yes, she does this for Bethany, who adores it. Jenny is an arcane archer who’s a hell of a shot, but she only uses it to hunt, which she adores! There have been countless hunting trips with Bethany, Jenny, and Koieta… with a 7-foot-tall orc, you can guess how that went, but they loved every moment. Jenny also taught Koieta the violin, and as a traveling gift, she gave her the violin she had as a traveler before meeting Bethany. She currently works with textiles, specifically warmer materials like wool, to make jackets, blankets, scarves, and more.
Razeus Foote: (FIND A WAY TO GET A FAMILIAR!!!)
Razeus is Koieta’s familiar, and he is just a scamp! He’s playful and silly almost always but can be highly cunning when the time arises. He loves being scratched right between the ears and will paw at your hand if you try to stop too early. He loves to play, be chased, and just explore alongside Koieta. He’s a fey-like spirit, which explains his playful and tricky nature. To Koieta, he isn’t familiar; he’s family. In Fact, to Bethany and Jenny, he’s also family. Bethany especially loves to play with Razeus and rough house. Razeus is not his actual name; honestly, Koieta has no idea what it is.
Cursed Helm???
The Cursed Helm (Name pending, so ideas are welcome :) )
This helm is an artifact of the Faewild, but not much information is available on this item. The item itself has never left the Faewild, and only a single page of a journal, that was donated to the library in Port Oswick when the author died, was ever written.
Now this page was not created by the author and instead was incorporated within the journal. The red markings on the page made it hard to tell the words originally there, but the markings appear to be some form of wax… or dried blood? The source of the colored writing is hard to tell.
So who wrote all over this page?
Well, the first host (name unknown) did. This hosts sanity decreased drastically the longer that they stayed in the faewild.
However, they simply attributed it to the helm that had bonded to them.
They tried to blind the eyes, yet to no avail. It’s unsure how this host died, but when they did it was within the faewild.
Cementing this helms mystery, by only the journal page ever making it to the material plane.
Not much is known on the properties of this helm, or if it even has properties.
However, it is known that the item is almost symbiotic. Seeming to meld with the hosts flesh and becoming more of an extension of the host, instead of a helm.
The Cursed Helm:
Due to the symbiotic nature of the helm, Ash (the next host) can actually still shift shapes while wearing it. Unlike normal clothing which is unable to shift with Ash, the helm can. Further showing that the helm and its host are one and the same.
However, there is always a set of eyes that Ash hides using a hat or their hair to not reveal the nature and presence of the helm.
As for its magical properties, Ash had received a few benefits (although the drawbacks are unknown.)
The first benefit was a connection to the faewild, past the fae Tainted nature that Ash already had. This is perhaps why the helm feels so natural to Ash? Or perhaps it’s something else.
However, this connection actually seemed to enhance Ash’s magical prowess, providing higher-level spells to her.
The second benefit resides in the plethora of eyes. While not actually increasing Ash’s perception at all, it does help her vision.
Making the helm goggles of dark vision essentially.
The final idea I had was when using the eyes of a familiar
Due to the eyes on the helm, and both Razeus and the Helm’s connection to the faewild. When Ash looked through Razeus’s eyes, she wouldn’t be blinded (still deafened though)
And/or
Some type of true sight once-per-day ability. Seeing through illusions by not looking through her own eyes but instead the helms eyes.
Do note, anything typed here can be vetoed, edited, and more.
This is just the initial idea
The Cursed Helm Shifted:
You also know she’s absolutely practiced the pose above to perfectly nail the reveal. Cause like…. That’s the most bad bitch face she can make, and it would’ve taken sooooo long to practice that, ha!**
